In July 2009 Charles was approached by Headline Publishing to contribute to 'Michael Jackson - Life of a Legend', a pictorial biography of the King of Pop.
For the book Charles penned a half-page article about Jackson's influence on global culture, focusing particularly on how Jackson had helped to shape his own career as a music writer.
The book topped the UK chart for three consecutive weeks and became an instant international bestseller.
